What is Onexton

Clindamycin

The Generic name of this drug

Treatment Summary

Clindamycin is an antibiotic that is used to treat serious infections caused by certain bacteria. It is also used to treat acne. Clindamycin is semi-synthetic and has a limited range of activity, which includes anaerobic bacteria, gram-positive cocci, bacilli, and gram-negative bacilli. It is also believed to have some activity against certain parasites and has been used off-label to treat toxoplasmosis, malaria, and babesiosis. Clindamycin is a replacement for the naturally occurring lincosamide lincomycin, which was first discovered in Lincoln

Effectiveness

How Onexton Affects Patients

Clindamycin works to stop the growth of bacteria by blocking protein production. It needs to be taken every six hours to keep the right amount in your system. Taking clindamycin can sometimes lead to a serious form of diarrhea called Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea (CDAD). This can happen even two months after you stop taking clindamycin. It is important to use clindamycin only when other antibiotics won't work, since it can cause serious problems. Clindamycin works on many types of bacteria, both gram-positive and gram-negative, but some bacteria can become resistant to it

How Onexton works in the body

Clindamycin works to stop bacteria from producing proteins, by blocking the ribosomes in bacteria. It does this by mimicking the shape of molecules used by the ribosome during protein creation. This prevents the ribosomes from creating proteins, which stops the bacteria from growing. It is thought that when used topically on acne, this mechanism may also be effective against the bacteria that causes acne.

When to interrupt dosage

The prescribed dosage of Onexton is contingent upon the specified condition, including viridans group streptococci, Vaginal Infections and Surgical Intervention. The amount of dosage may differ, as indicated by the method of delivery (e.g. Cream - Vaginal or Suspension - Topical) delineated in the table beneath.

Onexton Toxicity & Overdose Risk

The lowest toxic dose of clindamycin in mice and rats is 2540mg/kg and 2190mg/kg respectively. If a person overdoses on clindamycin, they may experience abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In one case, a 3-year-old was given 100mg/kg for 5 days and only had mild abdominal pain and diarrhea. Activated charcoal can help to remove unabsorbed drug, but dialysis is ineffective. General supportive measures are recommended in cases of clindamycin overdose.

Onexton for Acne

This solution has helped me drastically improve the appearance of my skin. I wash my face with a salycic acid cleanser twice per day, and during the second wash, I use witch hazel as a toner. Once the toner dries, I apply this medication and then a moisturizing lotion. This routine keeps my skin moist and prevents any flaking or dryness that the medication might cause. I could not be happier with how my skin looks now.

Onexton for Acne

This treatment has been great for my acne scars and breakouts. I've been using it for three months now, and the scars are definitely fading. I haven't had any new breakouts, which is amazing. I highly recommend this product to anyone struggling with similar issues.

Onexton for Acne

I had been using Acanya for years when I went in to get a refill and my dermatologist told me that while my confidence had grown, I still had acne. I was grateful for the progress but decided to try Onexton at her suggestion. And I'm so glad that I did! My skin is almost completely clear now and I couldn't be happier with the results.

Onexton for Acne

This treatment has been a game-changer for me. I've been using it for about a year and it's the only thing that's really helped my skin. I just leave it on overnight and by morning, I can tell a big difference in my skin. Onexton, combined with drinking plenty of water, has really helped improve my complexion.

Onexton for Acne

For anyone struggling with adult acne, this treatment cleared my skin so quickly. I even left the house without makeup on for the first time in awhile! The only downside is that it can cause some dryness and flaking, but you can use a lotion to help with that.

I had cystic acne around my nose and chin, but this treatment helped clear it up quickly. I would suggest using less than a pea-size amount every other day if you have experienced extreme dryness from similar products in the past.

Onexton for Acne

At first, this treatment made my face feel itchy and sunburned. However, I stuck with it because it was actually clearing up my skin. The dry, itchy burning effects lasted for a couple weeks but now my skin is used to the effects and I am more than pleased.

Onexton for Acne

I started using the gel about a week or so ago and it definitely made my skin smoother and clearer at first. However, now my face is becoming very red, irritated, dry and itchy! You can literally see flakes all over the application site. And my skin feels very tight. I'm not too fond of this development. Maybe it will improve with some more time.

Onexton for Acne

I'm struggling to adjust to the side effects of this medication. My skin has become very discolored and hyperpigmented, making it difficult for me to go outside. I've been using it for a month now, and I haven't seen any improvement. If things don't improve soon, I'll be discontinuing use and throwing the rest of the prescription away; just like all the other acne medications I've tried.

Onexton for Acne

Onexton has helped me a lot with my acne, but it hasn't completely cleared up after a month of use. I'm hoping that it will clear up soon, like other people have said in their reviews. I know that popping pimples makes it worse, but I can't help it sometimes.

AI-DBT for Suicide Prevention in HIV/AIDS

18+
All Sexes
Newark, NJ

One in four older persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) report at least one suicide attempt in their lifetime, and the risk for death by suicide is 100 times higher in PLWHA than in the general population. Currently, there are no behavioral interventions that specifically address suicide prevention for older PLWHA, despite their unique biopsychosocial and structural risk factors. Through this work, investigators will adapt Dialectical Behavior Therapy, an evidence-based intervention for suicide prevention, for patients with PLWHA to be delivered by an AI-powered conversational Agent developed by our industry partner, Empower Health. Investigators will then pilot test the feasibility, usability, acceptability and preliminary efficacy to improve self-efficacy to manage negative emotions in n=50 older adults living with HIV/AIDS.

The HOW LONG trial is an international, multicenter, Phase IV randomized clinical trial evaluating the optimal duration of adjunctive systemic corticosteroids in immunocompromised adults with severe Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) who demonstrate early clinical recovery. Participants who no longer require supplemental oxygen by day 10 of corticosteroid therapy are randomized to discontinue corticosteroids at day 10 (or hospital discharge, if earlier) versus continue corticosteroids for a total of 21 days. The trial assesses whether earlier discontinuation reduces steroid-related complications while maintaining clinical outcomes.

Decision Support Tool for HIV Treatment

18+
All Sexes
Los Angeles, CA

This study is testing software designed to help healthcare providers choose the best HIV treatment combinations for their patients. HIV medicines, known as antiretroviral therapy (ART), can be complex to manage because the right regimen depends on many factors-such as drug resistance, other health conditions, and medication schedules. Many people with HIV are cared for by general clinicians who may not have access to HIV specialists, which can make treatment decisions more challenging. In this study, healthcare providers will use patient cases to compare standard HIV treatment resources with a new clinical decision support tool that gives evidence-based ART recommendations at the point of care. The investigators hypothesize that using the tool will help providers select treatment plans that better match clinical guidelines, make decisions faster, reduce mental effort, and increase overall satisfaction with the prescribing process.

myPACE+ Algorithm for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

18+
All Sexes
Bronx, NY

This will be a two-arm investigator-initiated randomized controlled study of patients with nHCM and LV ejection fraction ≥50% and NYHA II-III symptoms, normal intrinsic conduction system and pre-existing suitable dual-chamber implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD) systems. Patients will be randomly assigned to either personalized accelerated pacing (using the myPACE+ algorithm with mono-fractional exponent) or usual care groups. At baseline and after 3 months of pacing all patients will undergo a CPET, echocardiogram, blood work for NT-proBNP levels and complete the KCCQ-OSS and HCMSQ, questionnaires. The investigator team hypothesizes that personalized accelerated pacing will be safe and improve symptoms and heart-failure related quality of life, physical activity, pVO2, biomarkers (i.e. NT-proBNP), diastolic parameters and cardiac structure.

Amoxicillin Challenge for Penicillin Allergy

18 - 89
All Sexes
Lubbock, TX

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about dosing when testing to see if a penicillin allergy label can be removed from adults that had been labeled as "penicillin-allergic" previously. The main question it aims to answer is: \- In penicillin-allergic patients that are at low risk of having an allergic reaction, is a one-dose oral challenge with amoxicillin (a penicillin-based antibiotic) as safe and effective as a two-dose oral challenge? Participants will, after being identified as having a low-risk penicillin allergy, be administered oral amoxicillin in a controlled setting and then monitored for an allergic reaction. Researchers will compare participants that took one dose of amoxicillin to participants that took two doses of amoxicillin (a small dose and then a larger dose) to see if either group was more likely to develop an allergic reaction.
