It was first developed in 1957 and approved by the FDA in 1958. Recently, dexamethasone has been recommended for use in COVID-19 patients with severe respiratory symptoms as it can reduce deaths by one third in patients requiring ventilation and one fifth in those requiring oxygen.

How Maxidex Affects PatientsCorticosteroids work by blocking signals that cause inflammation and promoting signals that reduce inflammation. The amount of time they have an effect can vary depending on how they are taken. Corticosteroids can be taken in larger doses than what the body produces naturally. People using corticosteroids should be aware that they may suppress the body's natural hormone production and could be more vulnerable to infections.

How Maxidex works in the bodyCorticosteroids work in the body to reduce inflammation. They work by binding to a receptor and changing how some genes are expressed. Corticosteroids stop white blood cells from moving to sites of inflammation, stop the creation of molecules that increase inflammation, and promote molecules that reduce inflammation. Low doses of corticosteroids reduce inflammation without affecting the immune system, while higher doses suppress the immune system and can raise sodium levels and lower potassium levels.

When to interrupt dosage

The prescribed dosage of Maxidex is contingent upon the ascertained condition, including Pink Eye, Brain and Keloids Scars. The quantity of dosage can be found in the table below, subject to the means of delivery.

Maxidex Toxicity & Overdose RiskThe lethal dose of this drug in female mice is 6.5g/kg when taken orally, and 794mg/kg when taken intravenously. Long-term use of this medication can cause cataracts, glaucoma, high blood pressure, water retention, high cholesterol, ulcers, pancreatitis, muscle pain, emotional changes, skin thinning and hair growth, weakened immune system, and slowed growth in children. If an overdose occurs, the dose may be adjusted or stopped, and any symptoms should be treated.
