Effectiveness

How Locoid Affects Patients

Hydrocortisone is a steroid hormone that is essential for life, helping to regulate and support a variety of functions in the body. It is often used as a cream to treat skin inflammation. Glucocorticoids like hydrocortisone work to suppress cell-mediated immunity, meaning they stop the production of certain proteins that cause inflammation. They also reduce the production of another protein (IL-2) that helps activate T and B lymphocytes, which are cells involved in the immune system. As a result, these cells are less likely to be activated and cause inflammation.

How Locoid works in the body

Hydrocortisone works by binding to a receptor in cells and causing them to produce proteins that help reduce inflammation. This protein, also called lipocortin, helps stop the production of substances that lead to inflammation, like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. It also reduces the ability of the immune system to cause inflammation by decreasing the activity of the lymphatic system, reducing immunoglobulin and complement concentrations, and preventing antigen-antibody binding.

When to interrupt dosage

The quantity of Locoid is contingent upon the recognized affliction, including Atopic Dermatitis, Pruritus and corticosteroid responsive, Inflammatory Dermatosis. The amount of dosage fluctuates as per the technique of delivery (e.g. Cream or Patch - Cutaneous) featured in the table beneath.
