How Candesartan Cilexetil Affects PatientsCandesartan cilexetil is a drug that lowers blood pressure by blocking the effects of angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is a hormone that causes blood vessels to narrow and increases the amount of sodium and water retained in the body. 12/25/2016 I felt great within days of starting this treatment, but after two weeks I experienced some leg cramps and fatigue. However, the trade-off is worth it as my blood pressure has lowered significantly. I no longer have chest pain, shoulder pain, or neck pain.
