Effectiveness

How Alocril Affects PatientsNedocromil is a drug that reduces inflammation. It is usually taken through the nose or mouth and can help lessen asthma symptoms such as early and late reactions to allergens, and difficulty breathing.
How Alocril works in the bodyNedocromil stops certain cells in the lungs from releasing substances that can cause asthma symptoms. These substances are normally released by eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, mast cells, monocytes, and platelets. Nedocromil also blocks nerve signals that cause bronchoconstriction, which is the tightening of the airways. It does not have any of the effects of bronchodilators, antihistamines, or corticosteroids.

Alocril for Allergic Conjunctivitis
Alocril has been a godsend for my seasonal allergies. It's way more effective than Azelastine, and I only need to use it twice a day.

Alocril for Allergic Conjunctivitis
Alocril was, by far, the most effective of all the prescription eye drops I've tried for my allergies. Not only did it work well, but I also didn't experience any unpleasant side effects. This medication significantly reduced the number of allergy attacks I had while taking it.

Patient Q&A Section about alocril

These questions and answers are submitted by anonymous patients, and have not been verified by our internal team.

What is the mechanism of action of nedocromil?

"Nedocromil's mechanism of action may be partly due to blocking of nerve impulses and release of neuropeptides such as substance P, neurokinin A, and calcitonin-geneñrelated peptides. This results in prevention of bronchoconstriction caused by bradykinin."

How long to wait between eye drops?

"Be sure to space out your drops when taking multiple medications- waiting 5 to 10 minutes in between. This will ensure that each drop is effective and that you aren't rinsing the first drop out with the second."
