How Alocril Affects Patients
Nedocromil is a drug that reduces inflammation. It is usually taken through the nose or mouth and can help lessen asthma symptoms such as early and late reactions to allergens, and difficulty breathing.
How Alocril works in the body
Nedocromil stops certain cells in the lungs from releasing substances that can cause asthma symptoms. These substances are normally released by eosinophils, neutrophils, macrophages, mast cells, monocytes, and platelets. Nedocromil also blocks nerve signals that cause bronchoconstriction, which is the tightening of the airways. It does not have any of the effects of bronchodilators, antihistamines, or corticosteroids.

The suggested dosage of Alocril is contingent upon the diagnosed situation, including Asthma, Allergic Conjunctivitis (AC) and Hay Fever. The extent of dosage is contingent upon the method of administration (e.g. Liquid or Solution / drops) exhibited in the table below.

What is the mechanism of action of nedocromil?
"Nedocromil's mechanism of action may be partly due to blocking of nerve impulses and release of neuropeptides such as substance P, neurokinin A, and calcitonin-geneñrelated peptides. This results in prevention of bronchoconstriction caused by bradykinin."

What type of drug is nedocromil?

How long to wait between eye drops?
"Be sure to space out your drops when taking multiple medications- waiting 5 to 10 minutes in between. This will ensure that each drop is effective and that you aren't rinsing the first drop out with the second."
