What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

The study will be an effectiveness study. The study will include enrollment of a total of 20 patients with at least one PC lesion for ultrasound guided RFA to PC recurrence in the neck to assess the effectiveness in reducing patient's hypercalcemia. Patients will have surgically proven PC from prior parathyroidectomy and suspicious PC visible on ultrasound and request for treatment for uncontrolled hypercalcemia (Figure 1).

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

Inclusion Criteria

I am healthy enough for procedures with local anesthesia or sedation.
Patients with distant oligometastasis visible on ultrasound
Selected nodule visible on ultrasound without significant extension posterior to trachea or mediastinal component

Exclusion Criteria

Patients with calcified nodules
My nodule is mostly cystic, with less than 70% solid parts.
Patients with contralateral vocal cord paralysis

Timeline for a Trial Participant

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

2-4 weeks

Treatment

Participants receive ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for recurrent parathyroid carcinoma

Outpatient basis

Follow-up

Participants are monitored for safety and effectiveness after treatment, including serum calcium level and PTH monitoring
