BnD Trial Summary

This trial will study the effects of blueberries on adults 70+ in a congregate living facility.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for independent-living adults who are 70 years or older. It's not suitable for those with allergies to blueberries or dates, a history of gastric bypass surgery, severe health conditions like end-stage renal disease, recent cardiovascular events, uncontrolled diabetes with high A1c levels (>9%), or extremely high blood pressure (systolic >200 mmHg).Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing the effects of consuming whole blueberries compared to dried dates on older adults' blood pressure and vascular health. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of these two dietary interventions in a parallel-design trial.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects may include digestive discomfort due to fiber content in blueberries and dates. However, since both foods are generally considered safe, significant side effects are unlikely unless there's an existing allergy.
