Study Summary

This trial is comparing the effects of six months of moderate exercise to six months of flexibility training on brain function, cognition, and physical function in adults aged 60-80.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for physically inactive adults aged 60-80, who are cognitively healthy and fluent in English. They must be willing to commit time to the study and have a doctor's approval for moderate exercise. People with neurological conditions, untreated major health issues, severe depression, substance abuse, or certain medication use cannot participate.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study compares a 6-month program of moderate intensity aerobic exercise (ET) versus low-intensity flexibility exercises (FC) on brain function and memory in older adults at risk for Alzheimer's. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of these two groups and activities take place in retirement communities or university campus.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves physical activity, potential side effects may include muscle soreness, fatigue, joint pain or injury. However, risks are minimized by medical oversight and tailored exercise plans.
