Study Summary

This trial is testing whether an exercise and nutrition program during neoadjuvant therapy can improve outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 with a recent diagnosis of resectable or locally advanced pancreatic cancer, who are fluent in English and planning to undergo neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgery at MGH. Excluded are those with metastatic disease, prior cancer treatments within 5 years, severe physical or cardiovascular limitations, strict dietary restrictions due to allergies/preferences, severe lung conditions, cognitive impairments, or debilitating orthopedic issues.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests the effectiveness of a combined exercise and nutrition program during total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT) before surgery in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). The goal is to see if this 'prehabilitation' improves outcomes for these patients.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
While not drug-related side effects per se, participants may experience typical risks associated with exercise programs such as muscle strains or sprains. Nutritional interventions could potentially cause digestive discomfort depending on individual tolerances.
