Effectiveness

How Temovate Affects Patients

Corticosteroids work by blocking certain signals in the body that cause inflammation. Clobetasol propionate is usually used twice a day and can last for a long time. Corticosteroids can be taken in higher doses than the body naturally produces, so it has a wide safety range. However, patients should be aware that taking corticosteroids may reduce their body's ability to fight infections and suppress hormones.

How Temovate works in the body

Corticosteroids help reduce inflammation by decreasing blood vessel expansion and preventing white blood cells from travelling to sites of inflammation. They also change the way certain genes are expressed, stopping some proteins from increasing inflammation and promoting proteins that reduce inflammation. Low doses of corticosteroids can reduce inflammation, while high doses weaken the immune system. When taken for an extended period, high doses of glucocorticoids bind to a different type of receptor, which increases sodium levels and decreases potassium levels.

When to interrupt dosage

The advised dose of Temovate is dependent upon the recognized condition, for example Psoriasis, corticosteroid responsive, Inflammatory Dermatosis and Pruritus. The amount of dosage fluctuates, as per the method of delivery (e.g. Topical or Ointment) showcased in the table beneath.

Scalp Cooling for Alopecia

18+
All Sexes
Kingsport, TN

This single-blind, randomized controlled trial is proposed to assess the effects of the PAXMAN Scalp Cooling System on the quality of life of breast cancer subjects receiving any treatment regimen consisting of a chemotherapy agent known to cause chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA). Quality of life will be measured using the Chemotherapy-Induced Alopecia Distress Scale (CADS) for cancer patients pre-and post-treatment. Simultaneously, the effect of scalp cooling on hair retention and regrowth will be determined by self-reported grading of photographic assessment using the Alopecia (Hair Loss) Pictorial Tool. Results will be correlated with presence of single nucleotide variations (SNVs) rs3820706 in the CACNB4 gene and rs1202179 in the ABCB1 gene. Participants will be blinded to genetic results until the completion of the study to prevent bias, as knowing results could influence the participants' behavior.
