How Supprelin La Affects Patients

Histrelin is a medication used to reduce the levels of hormones that trigger puberty. It is taken either as an implant or injection, but not orally. After treatment, hormone levels will decrease to prepubertal levels. Laboratory tests may be recommended to monitor hormone levels in patients. Side effects may include psychiatric events, convulsions, pseudotumor cerebri, spinal cord compression, urinary tract obstruction, and an increased risk of hyperglycemia/diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

How Supprelin La works in the body

Supprelin La Toxicity & Overdose Risk

Animal studies have shown that taking up to 200mcg/kg (rats and rabbits) or 2000mcg/kg (mice) of histrelin acetate is safe and does not cause systemic toxicity. This amount is much higher than the recommended human dose of 10mcg/kg/day. Clinical trials of histrelin products have not reported any overdose cases. Histrelin products are usually administered using implants that release a constant dose, so accidental or intentional overdose is unlikely.

My daughter got this implant when she was two years old due to her bones aging at an accelerated rate. It's been a big help for her. We were given the option to remove it and see how she does without it, but I'm afraid to take it out. So, we're going in in three weeks to get a new one implanted.

It's been a long and difficult two years treating my son with this medication. It was effective in addressing his original condition, but came with so many terrible side effects, like weight gain (he put on 60 pounds in just two years) and severe moodiness. We finally had the medicine removed and we can already tell the difference in his mood. If I could do it all over again, I would never have given him that medicine.

I would not recommend this plant.It messed my son up.My son has Tourette's syndrome,and it made him have severe tics.we are using some alternative methods to help.No more meds for him!
