What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial explores how parents experience weaning their children off feeding tubes using a new app called CHAMP App, compared to traditional methods. The goal is to understand the app's impact on the tube weaning process and gather feedback from parents. Eligible participants have children under six who have attempted to stop using feeding tubes at home in the last three years. Participants will share their experiences in a one-time interview. As an unphased trial, this study allows parents to contribute to innovative research that could enhance future weaning methods.

Do I need to stop my child's current medications for the trial?

The trial information does not specify whether your child needs to stop taking their current medications. It's best to consult with the trial coordinators for specific guidance.

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about the CHAMP App for pediatric feeding disorders because it introduces a novel approach to tube weaning. Unlike traditional methods that may heavily rely on clinical settings and standardized procedures, this app facilitates personalized and interactive parent interviews. By focusing on qualitative insights from parents who have experienced tube weaning with their children, the app aims to tailor support and guidance in a more customized manner. This unique method could potentially improve the success rates and experiences of tube weaning by addressing individual family needs and challenges.

What evidence suggests that the CHAMP App is effective for pediatric feeding disorders?

This trial will include qualitative interviews with parents of children who have attempted tube weaning, either through standard care or using the CHAMP App. Research has shown that the CHAMP App can assist children in transitioning away from feeding tubes. In previous cases, such as with a child named Greyson, the app facilitated the shift from tube feeding to oral eating. The app enhances communication and support for families, making the process smoother. Early findings suggest that using this app might expedite the process compared to traditional methods. Although more research is necessary, initial results appear promising for families considering this option.12345
