What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial explores whether Virtual Reiki therapy can assist people with lupus, a condition where the immune system attacks healthy tissues. The trial aims to assess the effectiveness and ease of using Reiki as an additional treatment. Participants will continue their usual care while trying weekly virtual Reiki sessions for eight weeks. Ideal participants have lupus, are already receiving standard treatment, and can join online sessions. As an unphased trial, this study offers a unique opportunity to explore a complementary therapy that could enhance current treatment plans.

Will I have to stop taking my current medications?

No, you will not have to stop taking your current medications. Participants will continue their standard treatment for lupus while also receiving Virtual Reiki therapy.

What prior data suggests that Virtual Reiki Therapy is safe for patients with lupus?

Research has shown that Virtual Reiki Therapy is generally easy for people to handle. In studies, patients using this therapy reported very few side effects. This suggests that Virtual Reiki is a safe option for those with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Participants continue their regular lupus treatments while adding Virtual Reiki, allowing it to complement their current therapies. Although detailed safety data from these studies is lacking, the therapy itself is non-invasive and focuses on energy healing, which usually carries minimal risk.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Unlike the standard treatments for lupus, which often include medications like corticosteroids and immunosuppressants to manage symptoms and control inflammation, Virtual Reiki Therapy offers a non-invasive and holistic approach. Researchers are excited about this therapy because it uses energy healing techniques delivered remotely, providing a unique and stress-free experience for patients. This method might help enhance overall well-being and reduce stress, potentially improving quality of life without the side effects associated with conventional medications.

What evidence suggests that Virtual Reiki Therapy might be an effective treatment for lupus?

Research suggests that Virtual Reiki Therapy, provided alongside standard care in this trial, might help people with lupus by reducing pain, fatigue, and stress. Some studies have found that online health treatments, such as Virtual Reiki, can aid in managing the disease and improving emotional health. Although specific data on Virtual Reiki's effects on lupus is limited, early results indicate it could enhance overall well-being and quality of life for those with the condition.12367
