What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial tests a new electronic system in pharmacies to improve asthma management. The Pharmacy Clinical Decision Support System for Asthma Management assists pharmacists in assessing asthma control, adjusting medications, delivering action plans, and referring patients with severe asthma to specialists. The goal is to enhance patient care by using patient data to guide pharmacy staff. People with asthma who visit one of the study pharmacies can participate. As an unphased trial, this study provides a unique opportunity for patients to contribute to the development of innovative asthma management tools.

Do I need to stop my current medications for this asthma trial?

The trial information does not specify if you need to stop your current medications. It seems to focus on using your existing medication data to help manage your asthma better.

What prior data suggests that this electronic asthma management system is safe for use in pharmacies?

Research has shown that systems like the eAMS-Pharm are generally safe for healthcare use. These systems assist pharmacists in managing asthma by analyzing patient data. In previous studies, similar systems improved asthma outcomes without causing harm.

The eAMS-Pharm uses patient information, such as asthma control and risk of flare-ups, to assist pharmacists. No reports have indicated any negative effects from the system. Instead, it helps pharmacists provide better care by closely following asthma guidelines.

Evidence so far suggests that the eAMS-Pharm is safe for both pharmacists and patients.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about the Pharmacy Clinical Decision Support System for Asthma Management because it introduces a tech-driven approach to asthma care. Unlike traditional treatments that rely heavily on medication and patient self-management, this system empowers pharmacists with real-time data and recommendations. This could lead to more personalized and timely intervention, potentially improving patient outcomes and adherence to asthma management plans. By integrating electronic tools into pharmacies, the system aims to enhance the coordination of care and optimize treatment strategies for individuals with asthma.

What evidence suggests that this electronic asthma management system is effective for asthma?

This trial will compare the effectiveness of the Electronic Asthma Management System (eAMS-Pharm) with standard pharmacy care. Research has shown that eAMS-Pharm effectively manages asthma by using patient information to assist pharmacists in making better decisions about asthma care. Studies indicate that computerized tools like eAMS-Pharm improve asthma treatment by ensuring patients receive guideline-based care. The system reviews symptoms and suggests management strategies, leading to better asthma control. This approach helps close the gap between recommended care and what patients actually receive, enhancing overall asthma management.23467

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for individuals with asthma who visit pharmacies that will implement the eAMS-Pharm system. It's designed to help pharmacists improve asthma care by assessing control, adjusting medication, providing action plans, and referring severe cases to specialists.
