What is Trilyte

Sodium acetateThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummarySodium Acetate is a powder that dissolves easily in water. It is used in food, industry, concrete production, and heating pads. Medically, it is given intravenously to restore sodium levels in patients with low sodium levels. Sodium Acetate can also be used to treat metabolic acidosis and to make the urine more alkaline.

Effectiveness

How Trilyte Affects PatientsSodium is the main positive charge in the body's fluids outside of cells. It makes up more than 90% of total positive charges at its normal concentration of 140 milliequivalents (mEq) per liter. Sodium helps to control the amount of water in the body and how it is spread around. Acetate ions act as substitutes to bicarbonate ions, taking on extra hydrogen ions.
How Trilyte works in the bodySodium Chloride helps to regulate the balance of fluids and electrolytes in the body. It helps control water distribution and osmotic pressure, as well as aiding nerve conduction, muscle contraction, acid-base balance and cell nutrient uptake. It is especially helpful for people with low levels of sodium, known as hyponatremia.

When to interrupt dosage

The proposed dosage of Trilyte is hinged on the diagnosed condition, such as Metabolic acidosis, Fluid replenishment therapy and Hemorrhage. The measure of dosage is contingent upon the technique of administration (e.g. Intravenous or Injection, solution), as noted in the table beneath.

Trilyte Reviews: What are patients saying about Trilyte?

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
The pharmacists told me I'd need the flavor packets when I picked up the medication, and they were right! The solution is cold, but if you drink it quickly it's not too bad. I got chills, but that was just because there was nothing else in my system. I did this procedure last year and would definitely request it again next time I need to.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
My doctor's office said I could put lemon flavored crystal light in the solution instead of the flavor packets. This worked much better but still a tad salty! Just finished the first half of the product and will wait about 6 hours to start the second round. Hopefully no side effects like I've read here.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
This was a lot more tolerable than the citrate of magnesium prep. The cherry flavor was better, too. I unfortunately still had to fast for three days before my next prep, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
I managed to take the entire gallon in the two-hour alloted time per my instructions. I had to gulp it down without taking a breath, but it did work. I got chills and had to dress in sweats in 95 degree weather, and experienced anal irritation.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
I join the ranks of those who have had less than stellar experiences with this product. In short: too much liquid, awful taste, and some general discomfort afterwards. That being said, it is an effective method for cleansing one's system. I've used it three times now and each time I dread it more than the last.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
I didn't have a great experience with this treatment. I developed chills and nausea after only drinking six or seven glasses, and felt bloated and cold the whole evening. It's an unpleasant way to clean out your colon, and I'll be looking for alternatives next time.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
I took half the recommended dose the night before and it worked well to clear my colon. The next morning when I took the rest of it as directed, I got very sick. Vomiting, sweating, and an all-around terrible feeling. Since then, I've had the procedure done in a hospital setting and it went much better.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
I'm highly allergic to artificial sweeteners, and all the flavor packets are full of it. It was unpleasant having to drink the whole thing without diluting it first. Why can't they use a natural sweetener?

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
I didn't find this to be an effective solution, and the taste was incredibly unpleasant.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
I wasn't a fan of this treatment. I had to take it in liquid form, and I found the taste absolutely terrible.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
I found this drink to be unpalatably large, and it caused me a great deal of pain in my abdomen. It took an unreasonably long time for the desired effect to occur. I much preferred phosphosoda; however, it's no longer on the market. Hopefully, by the next time I need this procedure done they will have come up with something better.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
The saltiness was overwhelming, and the volume of liquid required to drink was excessive. I had to give up before completing the treatment.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
I started to gag and became very nauseated after only 10 ounces. The doctor recommended that I slow down the pace. After 5 hours, I am still not done but less nauseated. It took longer for this treatment to start working, but it has now begun.

Trilyte for Emptying of the Bowel
I really struggled to finish this drink. It's not pleasant, even with the flavoring. I started at 6:15 pm and it is now 9:15pm and I've only had a small movement. Taking such a large volume of liquid is overwhelming, they should invent a tablet form we can take instead.
