How Renova works in the bodyTretinoin works by targeting three receptors in the body. These receptors are associated with the development of acute promyelocytic leukemia and squamous cell cancers, as well as retinoid effects on mucocutaneous tissues and bone. Tretinoin's primary action is to reduce the number of keratin cells in the follicles, which reduces the formation of comedones, or acne. It also promotes the shedding of corneocytes from the follicles, and increases the turnover rate of thin corneocytes.
