Effectiveness

How Naphazoline Hydrochloride Affects Patients

Naphazoline is a drug that helps to reduce congestion in the nose or eyes by narrowing the small blood vessels at the site of administration.

How Naphazoline Hydrochloride works in the body

Naphazoline is a medication used to decrease congestion. It works by stimulating alpha-adrenergic receptors on the walls of small arteries, causing them to constrict and reduce inflammation. It also stimulates beta-adrenergic receptors, which can cause rebound vasodilation once the alpha-adrenergic stimulation has ended. After long-term use, if naphazoline is suddenly stopped, it can cause rhinitis medicamentosa due to a decrease in norepinephrine production caused by a negative feedback loop.

When to interrupt dosage

The measure of Naphazoline Hydrochloride is contingent upon the perceived affliction, including Eye Pain, Sinusitis and tetracycline. The measure of dosage is affected by the mode of delivery (e.g. Solution / drops or Liquid - Ophthalmic) specified in the table beneath.

Naphazoline Hydrochloride for Red Eyes

The active ingredient in Clear Eyes, naphazoline ophthalmic, is much more effective than other over-the-counter treatments like Visine. I've used it for a variety of issues – pink eye, sore eyes from staring at a computer all day, allergies, and even just puffy eyes – and it's always worked great.

Naphazoline Hydrochloride for Red Eyes

My right eye was red and irritated for seven weeks before I found this treatment. The over-the-counter allergy drop really did the trick, better than the prescription medications my doctor gave me (which also came with some nasty possible side effects).

Digital Tools for Allergic Rhinitis

18 - 65
All Sexes
West Palm Beach, FL

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of digital tools in managing allergic rhinitis (AR) in primary care settings. AR is a common condition that affects many people's quality of life. The study will test whether digital tools, such as the QHSLab platform, can help patients better control their symptoms, improve adherence to treatment, and enhance overall well-being. The trial will compare two groups: one using standard care and the other using both standard care and digital tools. Participants will be monitored over 12 months, and the study will measure changes in symptom severity, treatment adherence, quality of life, and healthcare usage. The study will also gather feedback from patients and healthcare providers about their experience with the digital tools. The digital tools used in this study are designed to help patients manage their AR more effectively by providing regular symptom assessments, medication reminders, and personalized feedback based on their health data. This summary ensures the information is clear and straightforward for patients, families, and healthcare providers while maintaining compliance with IRB guidelines.

In-Clinic Endoscopic Polypectomy for Nasal Polyps

18+
All Sexes
Vancouver, Canada

Chronic rhinosinusitis, also called chronic sinusitis, is a very common life-long disease affecting over 5% of the Canadian population. Its symptoms, including daily facial pain and headache, an inability to breath through the nose and complete smell loss, regularly impair one's ability to work and to enjoy and participate in daily activities. The annual cost of chronic sinusitis to Canada is estimated at $1.3 billion while the government pays an estimated $860 million yearly for chronic sinusitis treatment. Chronic sinusitis with polyps, the most common type of chronic sinusitis, is usually treated with a combination of medications and surgery. Until now, surgical treatment has only been performed in the operating room, at a cost of about $3500 per procedure. But, recent studies have shown that a new procedure, "in-clinic polyp removal", can provide an improvement in patient symptoms to levels equal to those for sinus surgery performed in a hospital operating room. Moreover, in clinic polyp removal has additional advantages including a shorter procedure recovery time, a significantly lower cost to the health care system (about one-tenth the cost or $450), and a shorter wait time for treatment. With the proposed pragmatic trial, the investigators will determine whether the in clinic polyp removal procedure is as good as sinus surgery in the operating room at controlling patient symptoms of chronic sinusitis. The investigators will also determine the cost and health-benefits for a patient, the healthcare system and for society of in clinic polyp removal in comparison to sinus surgery done in a hospital operating room. The investigators will then know if this new treatment, in clinic polyp removal, can replace sinus surgery as the standard of care for these patients.
