Effectiveness

How Exforge Hct Affects PatientsAmlodipine affects cell membranes, blocking calcium from getting into the cells. This helps lower blood pressure when taken regularly. It does not change heart rate or the levels of certain chemicals in the blood. Acute use of amlodipine can increase heart rate in those with angina and normal blood pressure, but long-term use does not have this effect. Amlodipine also improves chest pain associated with angina by increasing exercise time and decreasing the number of angina attacks.
How Exforge Hct works in the bodyAmlodipine works to lower blood pressure and relieve the symptoms of angina. It does this by blocking the movement of calcium ions into the cells of the heart and the blood vessels, which reduces the contraction of the heart and restricts the vessels. This decreases the amount of work the heart needs to do and lowers the total resistance against which it works. Amlodipine also widens the main coronary arteries and arterioles, increasing the oxygen delivery to the heart and reducing the vasoconstriction caused by smoking.

Exforge Hct for High Blood Pressure
This medication is very effective in lowering my blood pressure. However, the side effects are quite unpleasant. I'm constantly tired and my resting pulse is now 90+. Additionally, I can't exercise because it makes me feel short of breath and my heart rate speeds up uncomfortably.

Exforge Hct for High Blood Pressure
Although this medication was successful in lowering my blood pressure, I experienced a range of severe side-effects that made it difficult to continue taking the drug. These included swelling of ankles and extreme tiredness, as well as joint pain that made it difficult to walk. Additionally, I constantly felt mild headaches, had a sore throat and cough, and began gaining weight around my belly. My cardiologist suggested taking the drug at night, which helped with the dizziness but not any of the other symptoms. Today, my doctor prescribed a different treatment.
