How Astepro Affects Patients

Azelastine blocks histamine, reducing symptoms of allergies. It starts working within 15 minutes when taken as a nasal spray, or 3 minutes when used as eye drops. Its effects can last up to 12 hours.

How Astepro works in the body

Azelastine is a drug used to treat allergies. It works by blocking histamine receptors in the body that cause allergy symptoms such as itching, sneezing, and congestion. It also has the ability to stabilize mast cells so they can't release inflammatory molecules, and it reduces the production of leukotrienes and other substances that cause inflammation. Finally, it can reduce levels of substance P and bradykinin in nasal secretions, which cause nasal itching and sneezing.

Astepro for Inflammation of the Nose due to an Allergy

This medication has been key in helping me get a better night's sleep.

Astepro for Vasomotor Rhinitis

I used to use Afrin, but it stopped working for me. I switched to Azelestine and I've been much happier ever since. It's cheaper over the counter than with a prescription, and it keeps the drainage from making me cough all the time. No more morning coughing fits! I love this stuff. Yes, there is an after-taste for a while, but it's so worth it. I can tell when I miss a dose.
