GO MOVE Home Program for Cerebral Palsy
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial tests Go Move, a mobile website designed to help young people with unilateral cerebral palsy and their caregivers set and achieve physical activity goals. The study aims to determine if Go Move is helpful and accepted by these users. Participants will use the website to follow a home program for six weeks, spending a little over an hour each week on it. This trial suits young people aged 3-17 who have unilateral cerebral palsy and can access the Go Move website on their device. As an unphased trial, this study offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative research that could enhance daily life for young people with cerebral palsy.
Will I have to stop taking my current medications?
The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications. It seems focused on using a mobile website for exercises, so it's unlikely that medication changes are required.
What prior data suggests that the Go Move program is safe for youth with cerebral palsy?
Research shows that the Go Move program, a mobile website for children with unilateral cerebral palsy, helps users set goals, choose activities, and track progress at home. Specific safety data for Go Move is unavailable because it is a digital tool, not a medicine or physical treatment. However, as a website, it is generally considered safe, similar to other online educational and planning tools. Feedback from participants in earlier studies improved the website's content and features, indicating that the program is user-friendly and well-received. Overall, Go Move is expected to be safe and easy for both children and their caregivers.12345
Why are researchers excited about this trial?
Researchers are excited about the Go Move Home Program for cerebral palsy because it offers a personalized, goal-driven approach that can be implemented at home. Unlike traditional therapies that often require frequent visits to specialized centers, this program empowers families to integrate therapeutic activities into their daily routines, potentially increasing the consistency and frequency of the exercises. This could lead to improved motor skills and flexibility in a more comfortable and familiar environment, making it easier for individuals with cerebral palsy to engage in their treatment.
What evidence suggests that the Go Move program is effective for cerebral palsy?
Research shows that the Go Move Home Program, a mobile website, helps kids with cerebral palsy set goals and choose activities at home. Studies indicate that programs like this can improve motor skills by focusing on specific goals. Evidence supports that this type of training enhances movement quality and increases satisfaction for both the child and their parents. Additionally, virtual reality (VR) has improved motor function in children with cerebral palsy. These findings suggest that using technology like Go Move, tested in this trial, may effectively support reaching goals and improving motor skills.12356
