Trial Summary

Will I have to stop taking my current medications?

The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications.

What data supports the effectiveness of the treatment Exalt Model D, Reusable for biliary disease?

The Exalt Model D, a single-use duodenoscope, has shown equivalent technical performance and provider satisfaction compared to reusable duodenoscopes, while eliminating the risk of device-related infections. This suggests it is effective for procedures like endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), which is used to manage biliary diseases.12345

Is the single-use duodenoscope safe for humans?

The single-use duodenoscope, like the EXALT Model D, is designed to reduce the risk of infections that can occur with reusable duodenoscopes. It eliminates the chance of device-related infection transmission, which is a known issue with reusable devices.15678

How is the Exalt Model D duodenoscope treatment different from other treatments for biliary disease?

The Exalt Model D duodenoscope is unique because it is a single-use device, which eliminates the risk of infection transmission associated with reusable duodenoscopes. This makes it safer for patients by avoiding the potential for device-related infectious outbreaks.12379

What is the purpose of this trial?

This randomized controlled trial (RCT) is designed to evaluate the new generation Exalt Model disposable duodenoscope compared to the reusable scope in terms of feasibility, ease of use, adverse events, number of crossover events, and infection rates.

Interventions

  • Exalt Model D
  • Reusable
Trial Overview The trial is testing a new disposable duodenoscope called Exalt Model D against traditional reusable scopes. It aims to compare their effectiveness and safety by looking at how easy they are to use, any adverse events that occur, if there's a need to switch between them (crossover events), and infection rates after procedures.
