(MAP Trial)
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial tests a web-based training course called MAP for Coaches to determine if it helps youth sports coaches better understand and prevent injuries, particularly those involving muscles and bones. The main focus is on whether the course enhances coaches' knowledge and motivation to use special warm-up exercises designed to prevent injuries. Participants are divided into two groups: one receives a summarized version of the course, while the other receives the full training. Coaches actively engaged in team sports like soccer, basketball, football, or volleyball in the U.S. might be a good fit for this trial. As an unphased trial, this study offers coaches the opportunity to enhance their skills and contribute to safer sports environments.
Will I have to stop taking my current medications?
The trial information does not specify whether participants need to stop taking their current medications.
What prior data suggests that the MAP for Coaches training course is safe for youth sport coaches?
Research has shown that online training programs, such as the MAP for Coaches, are generally safe for participants. These programs focus on teaching and do not involve physical activities, posing minimal risk.

Since this trial uses eLearning, the main challenge might be ensuring participants understand and retain the information. However, people generally find this format user-friendly.
The MAP for Coaches course aims to increase knowledge about sports injuries and their prevention. This includes learning about various types of injuries and prevention methods. By focusing on education, the program empowers coaches without any physical risks.12345Why are researchers excited about this trial?
Researchers are excited about the MAP for Coaches program because it offers a fresh take on sports injury prevention through education. Unlike traditional methods that might focus on physical therapy or equipment modifications, this program is all about empowering coaches with knowledge. The Full MAP for Coaches eLearning Training Course provides an in-depth understanding, while the Summarized Course offers a more concise overview, making it adaptable to different learning needs. By enhancing coaches' ability to prevent injuries through education, the program aims to improve athlete safety in a new and proactive way.
What evidence suggests that the MAP for Coaches training course is effective for sports injury prevention?
Research shows that teaching coaches about injury prevention can enhance their knowledge and actions. This trial will compare two versions of the MAP for Coaches training program. Studies have found that programs like MAP for Coaches help coaches understand various injuries, their causes, and prevention methods. For example, a detailed review found that these programs encourage coaches to use warm-up exercises that reduce injury risk. Coaches also report increased confidence and eagerness to apply these techniques after training.
