Women are highly underrepresented in the construction skilled trades. In addition to facing the industry's well-known physical risks, women are subjected to discrimination, harassment, and skills under-utilization. As a result, tradeswomen have increased risk for injury, stress-related health effects, and high attrition rates from apprenticeship programs, thus perpetuating their minority status. Mentoring is a well-established technique for learning technical and personal navigation skills in new or challenging social environments. The investigators propose development and dissemination of a mentorship program through local unions of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART), and evaluating its success in reducing women's injury and work stress, while improving retention.

Circadian rhythm disruption caused by shift work alters metabolic and hormonal pathways, which accelerates chronic disease onset, leading to decreased quality and quantity of life. Preclinical studies indicate that optimizing nutrient and sleep/rest timing can mitigate these effects. Female nightshift healthcare workers will be recruited to participate in a randomized crossover trial in which participants will be expected to follow the prescribed lifestyle intervention for eight weeks during the first or second eight-week periods of the study.

Occupational heat stress directly threatens workers' ability to live healthy and productive lives. Heat exposed workers are at an elevated risk of experiencing impaired work performance and cognitive function leading to a greater risk of work-related injuries which includes traumatic injury and a myriad of pathophysiological conditions (e.g., heat stroke, acute kidney injury, adverse cardiovascular events). To mitigate the adverse health effects of occupational heat stress, safety organizations recommend upper limits for heat stress, typically defined by a worker's metabolic rate and the prevailing wet-bulb globe temperature (WBGT). In instances where the heat load created by the combination of work intensity, environment, and clothing worn exceed the upper heat stress limits (uncompensable heat stress), controls such as rest breaks are prescribed to limit increases in core temperature beyond recommended limits. While workers are encouraged to find shelter from the heat during a rest break, it is not always possible or feasible. Typically, workers may rest while remaining exposed to the heat, recover in a shaded area or rest in an air-conditioned room or vehicle. However, the effectiveness of these cooling strategies in mitigating the level of physiological strain experienced by the worker during prolonged work in a hot environment remains unclear. In this project, the investigators will assess the efficacy of the different cooling strategies in preventing excursions in core temperature beyond recommended limits (38.0°C) following the initial stay time for moderate-intensity work in hot ambient conditions (WBGT of 29°C; represents hot outdoor conditions experienced by workers in summers in Ontario, Canada) in context of the prescribed American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) work-to-rest allocation for unacclimated adults. On three separate days, participants will walk on a treadmill at a fixed metabolic rate of 200 W/m2 until core temperature reaches and/or exceeds 38.0°C or until volitional fatigue. Thereafter, participants will complete an additional 180 min work bout employing the recommended ACGIH work-to-rest allocation of 1:3 (starting with a 45 min rest break followed by a 15 min work bout, with the cycle repeated three times over the 180 min work simulation bout) without (Control) or with cooling mitigation during each 15-min break consisting of either: i) partial cooling equivalent to sitting in a shaded space (WBGT 24°C; 31.7°C and 35% RH) such as under a tree with a light breeze (simulated with pedestal fan fixed at \~2 m/s) or ii) full cooling equivalent to sitting in air-conditioned space (e.g., room or vehicle) maintained at 22°C and 35% RH (equivalent WBGT of 16°C).

The goal of this clinical trial is to explore possible benefits and mechanisms through which the Somatic Psychoeducational Intervention can improve health and wellness. The main goals of the study are: * To understand how the participants are doing with regard to their mindfulness, coping behaviors, emotional, physical, and work health, and autonomic reactivity (the degree participants physiologically respond). * To examine regulation of the oxytocinergic system * To investigate whether pre-intervention measures relate to the overall functioning * To determine the 1-week and 1-month post-intervention effects of the Intervention(s) * To identify individual characteristics that influence the effectiveness of the intervention at the 1-week and 1-month post-intervention assessments. Participants will: * complete the online pre-assessment measures regarding how they are doing emotionally and with respect to their work situation. * listen to 15-minutes of calming music and provide pre and post-music salivary samples * complete pre-intervention, post-intervention, 1-week post-intervention, and 1-month post-intervention assessments that involve completion of online measures and collection of saliva samples. * participate in the intervention (which involves 4 hours; the 1-hour classes will be administered over four weeks). Researchers will compare the Intervention Group A (in-person) to Intervention Group B (virtual) to see if the Intervention Group A experiences greater improvements in their health and wellness.

This study will test how well a mindfulness-based intervention called CHIME improves the emotional well-being of educators in Early Head Start and Head Start (EHS/HS) settings. The study also will examine if there are any benefits to young children's social emotional health as a result of the CHIME program. Researchers will compare educators who participate in CHIME to educators who are asked to participate at a later time to see if there are benefits to their emotional health and teaching practices.

The goal of this randomized control trial is to learn if physical therapy coaching and education improves work-related muscle pain in surgeons more than education alone. The main focuses of this study are to: 1. To evaluate pain in surgeons before and after surgical cases. 2. To evaluate work-load related stress in surgeons after surgical cases. 3. To evaluate surgeons' quality of life. 4. To evaluate surgeons' grip strength. Participants will be put into two groups at random. One group will watch an educational video only. Each trial will compensate patients a different amount, but $50-100 for each visit is a fairly common range for Phase 2–4 trials (Phase 1 trials often pay substantially more). Further, most trials will cover the costs of a travel to-and-from the clinic.

How do Workplace Stress clinical trials work?

After a researcher reviews your profile, they may choose to invite you in to a screening appointment, where they'll determine if you meet 100% of the eligibility requirements. If you do, you'll be sorted into one of the treatment groups, and receive your study drug. For some trials, there is a chance you'll receive a placebo. How do I participate in a study as a "healthy volunteer"?

What does the "phase" of a clinical trial mean?

The phase of a trial reveals what stage the drug is in to get approval for a specific condition. Phase 1 trials are the trials to collect safety data in humans. Phase 2 trials are those where the drug has some data showing safety in humans, but where further human data is needed on drug effectiveness. Phase 3 trials are in the final step before approval. The drug already has data showing both safety and effectiveness. As a general rule, Phase 3 trials are more promising than Phase 2, and Phase 2 trials are more promising than phase 1.

Do I need to be insured to participate in a Workplace Stress medical study?

Clinical trials are almost always free to participants, and so do not require insurance. The only exception here are trials focused on cancer, because only a small part of the typical treatment plan is actually experimental. For these cancer trials, participants typically need insurance to cover all the non-experimental components.
