In this research study, the investigators want to learn more about the role of new innovative surgical devices, the Karl Storz Curved and Straight Fetoscopes for in-utero surgery. A fetoscope is like a small telescope that can see inside of the uterus (womb) during minimally invasive surgery. The curved scope is used for patients with an anterior placenta (front of uterus), while the straight scope is used for patients with a posterior placenta (back of uterus). The scopes will be used to assist in procedures involving fetoscopic laser photocoagulation (FLP), which is a minimally invasive surgery that uses a small camera (fetoscope) to locate abnormal blood vessel connections in the placenta and seal them off using laser energy. These fetoscopes will be utilized in the diagnosis and management of various fetal conditions that can arise during pregnancy. Outcome data will be reported in a descriptive statistical analysis. The investigators will assess the surgical outcomes, short and long-term morbidity, complications, and gestational age of participants in order to evaluate the benefit of using these devices.

This trial is testing a drug called PT-112 to see if it can shrink tumors in adults with thymoma or thymic cancer that has come back or gotten worse after other treatments. Background: Thymoma and thymic carcinoma are diseases of the thymus. Platinum-based chemotherapy is the standard treatment for these diseases. But in many cases, the disease returns after treatment. Researchers want to see if a new drug can help. Objective: To see if bintrafusp alfa (M7824) is an effective treatment for thymoma and thymic carcinoma. Eligibility: People age 18 and older who have thymoma or thymic cancer and their disease returned or progressed after treatment with at least one platinum-containing chemotherapy treatment plan. Design: Participants will be screened under a separate protocol. Their medical, medicine, and treatment history will be reviewed. They will have a tumor biopsy if they do not have a sample. Participants will get the study drug once every 2 weeks as an intravenous infusion. For this, a small plastic tube is put into an arm vein. During the study, participants will undergo the following: Medicine review Physical exam Review of their symptoms and their ability to perform their normal activities Blood and urine tests Thigh muscle scan (using MRI) Tumor assessment (using MRI or CT) Heart and lung function tests Thyroid gland test Skin assessment. Participants may have tumor biopsies. Some of their blood and biopsy samples will be used for gene testing. Participants may take the study drug until their disease worsens or they cannot tolerate treatment. Participants will have follow-up visits 2 and 6 weeks after stopping treatment. Then they will have long-term follow-up visits every 3 months. These may include imaging scans. Visits may be done by phone, with scans (if needed) done at their doctor s office.

This is a minimal risk case-controlled single arm intervention study, including 10 patients with a prior history of takotsubo and 10-age and sex matched healthy controls. Subjects will undergo in laboratory testing to measure autonomic function. They will then undergo a 15-week program of device-guided breathing with remote measures of autonomic function obtained at home. Analysis will determine the reproducibility of home autonomic measures and the provide preliminary data to determine the efficacy of device-guided breathing on autonomic measures and quality of life in patients with takotsubo.

How much do Ttts clinical trials pay?

Each trial will compensate patients a different amount, but $50-100 for each visit is a fairly common range for Phase 2–4 trials (Phase 1 trials often pay substantially more). Further, most trials will cover the costs of a travel to-and-from the clinic.

How do Ttts clinical trials work?

After a researcher reviews your profile, they may choose to invite you in to a screening appointment, where they'll determine if you meet 100% of the eligibility requirements. If you do, you'll be sorted into one of the treatment groups, and receive your study drug. For some trials, there is a chance you'll receive a placebo. Across Ttts trials 30% of clinical trials have a placebo. Typically, you'll be required to check-in with the clinic every month or so. The average trial length for Ttts is 12 months.

How do I participate in a study as a "healthy volunteer"?

What does the "phase" of a clinical trial mean?

The phase of a trial reveals what stage the drug is in to get approval for a specific condition. Phase 1 trials are the trials to collect safety data in humans. Phase 2 trials are those where the drug has some data showing safety in humans, but where further human data is needed on drug effectiveness. Phase 3 trials are in the final step before approval. The drug already has data showing both safety and effectiveness. As a general rule, Phase 3 trials are more promising than Phase 2, and Phase 2 trials are more promising than phase 1.

Do I need to be insured to participate in a Ttts medical study?

The only exception here are trials focused on cancer, because only a small part of the typical treatment plan is actually experimental.
