The purpose of this study is to see how adding avocado to a breakfast meal affects blood sugar control and signals of hunger and fullness after eating. The investigators will test the effects of 3 breakfast meals on blood sugar control and signals of hunger and fullness after eating: 1. Whole-wheat bread and strawberry jam 2. Whole-wheat bread, strawberry jam, and avocado 3. Whole-wheat bread and strawberry jam (meal enriched with fat and fiber to mimic that of an avocado) Participants will undergo 3 test periods, each separated by a week. Each test period consists of one day with set meals that the investigators will provide (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and then the next morning, participants will eat a breakfast meal and have blood drawn several times over 4 hours.

The goal of this randomized clinical trial is to learn whether a low-frequency "kinetic wellness" mat (a comfortable mat that gently vibrates) can improve stress recovery, sleep quality, mood, and attention in healthy adults ages 18-45. The main questions it aims to answer are: * After 3 weeks, does regular use of the vibrating mat increase heart rate variability (a noninvasive marker of the body's ability to recover from stress) and improve sleep, mood, perceived stress, and anxiety compared with no mat use? * Do patterns of resting brain activity (measured with EEG) and heart rate variability (HRV) change from before to after the program, and are those changes related to each other? Researchers will compare two groups: an Experimental group that uses the vibrating mat at home for 3 weeks, and a Control group that does not use the mat. Participants are randomly assigned to a group. Participants will: * Attend two lab visits (\~60 min) for questionnaires, resting heart activity (HRV) and brain activity (EEG), and a brief attention test. * On 3-4 days per week for 3 weeks: * Experimental group: use the vibrating mat for 15 minutes while recording HRV. * Control group: lie quietly for 15 minutes while recording HRV. * Both groups: record HRV for 15 minutes before bedtime and 15 minutes after waking on those same days. * Both groups: complete quick check-ins on feelings (after sessions and the next morning) and log caffeine/alcohol, exercise, and medications.

50 Participants Needed

This is a Phase 1, single-center, randomized, single-blind (participants are blinded), placebo controlled, four-way cross over TQT study (4×4 Williams square design) to investigate the effect of KP-001 on the QTc interval using open-label moxifloxacin as an active control, in adult healthy volunteers. KP-001 and placebo (dry syrup) will be administered in blinded manner to participants, and the moxifloxacin (tablet) will be administered in open-label manner.Total duration of study participation for each participant is approximately 8 weeks. Cardiodynamic ECG evaluations will be performed at separate locations and cardiodynamic ECG evaluators will be blinded to treatment group analyzed, ie, blinded to each of the study interventions including moxifloxacin.

40 Participants Needed

This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, two-arm crossover clinical trial evaluating the effects of a patented age-reversal therapy, EGA®, compared to conventional nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) supplementation. The study will assess safety and efficacy in improving exercise tolerance and modulating biomarkers of aging in healthy older adults. The primary outcome is cycle ergometry constant work rate (CWR) exercise tolerance, measured as time to fatigue. Secondary outcomes include changes in peak oxygen consumption (VO₂peak), critical power, anaerobic work capacity, lactate threshold, and NAD⁺ metabolite levels. EGA® is composed of three metabolomic compounds that are endogenous to humans. The formulation has been used in prior exploratory studies and real-world applications, which have helped inform the design of this current trial.

The purpose of this study is to conduct a pragmatic clinical trial comparing the effectiveness of: (1) 8-week cognitive behavioral therapy for chronic pain (pain-CBT; sixteen hours total treatment time); and (2) a 1-session pain relief skills intervention for chronic pain (Empowered Relief; two hours total treatment time).

Community members ages 18 - 45 years old from the El Paso, Texas, U.S.-Mexico Border Region will be recruited to compare psychoeducational multimedia interventions focused on the human papillomavirus (HPV). Our hypothesis is that adults who view culturally tailored multimedia stories encouraging HPV vaccination will report higher vaccine uptake rates.

Why Other Patients Applied

"I've been struggling with ADHD and anxiety since I was 9 years old. I'm currently 30. I really don't like how numb the medications make me feel. And especially now, that I've lost my grandma and my aunt 8 days apart, my anxiety has been even worse. So I'm trying to find something new."

"I have dealt with voice and vocal fold issues related to paralysis for over 12 years. This problem has negatively impacted virtually every facet of my life. I am an otherwise healthy 48 year old married father of 3 living. My youngest daughter is 12 and has never heard my real voice. I am now having breathing issues related to the paralysis as well as trouble swallowing some liquids. In my research I have seen some recent trials focused on helping people like me."

"As a healthy volunteer, I like to participate in as many trials as I'm able to. It's a good way to help research and earn money."

"I've tried several different SSRIs over the past 23 years with no luck. Some of these new treatments seem interesting... haven't tried anything like them before. I really hope that one could work."

ZS
Depression PatientAge: 51

"My orthopedist recommended a half replacement of my right knee. I have had both hips replaced. Currently have arthritis in knee, shoulder, and thumb. I want to avoid surgery, and I'm open-minded about trying a trial before using surgery as a last resort."

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do Healthy Adult Male clinical trials pay?

Each trial will compensate patients a different amount, but $50-100 for each visit is a fairly common range for Phase 2–4 trials (Phase 1 trials often pay substantially more). Further, most trials will cover the costs of a travel to-and-from the clinic.

How do Healthy Adult Male clinical trials work?

After a researcher reviews your profile, they may choose to invite you in to a screening appointment, where they'll determine if you meet 100% of the eligibility requirements. If you do, you'll be sorted into one of the treatment groups, and receive your study drug. For some trials, there is a chance you'll receive a placebo. Across Healthy Adult Male trials 30% of clinical trials have a placebo. Typically, you'll be required to check-in with the clinic every month or so. The average trial length for Healthy Adult Male is 12 months.

How do I participate in a study as a "healthy volunteer"?

Not all studies recruit healthy volunteers: usually, Phase 1 studies do. Participating as a healthy volunteer means you will go to a research facility several times over a few days or weeks to receive a dose of either the test treatment or a "placebo," which is a harmless substance that helps researchers compare results. You will have routine tests during these visits, and you'll be compensated for your time and travel, with the number of appointments and details varying by study.

What does the "phase" of a clinical trial mean?

The phase of a trial reveals what stage the drug is in to get approval for a specific condition. Phase 1 trials are the trials to collect safety data in humans. Phase 2 trials are those where the drug has some data showing safety in humans, but where further human data is needed on drug effectiveness. Phase 3 trials are in the final step before approval. The drug already has data showing both safety and effectiveness. As a general rule, Phase 3 trials are more promising than Phase 2, and Phase 2 trials are more promising than phase 1.

Do I need to be insured to participate in a Healthy Adult Male medical study?

Clinical trials are almost always free to participants, and so do not require insurance. The only exception here are trials focused on cancer, because only a small part of the typical treatment plan is actually experimental. For these cancer trials, participants typically need insurance to cover all the non-experimental components.

What are the newest Healthy Adult Male clinical trials?

Most recently, we added Vibration Mat for Insomnia, Nicotinamide Mononucleotide for Exercise Capacity in Aging and BMS-986460 for Healthy Subjects to the Power online platform.
