- You smoke cigarettes.You are allergic to tree nuts.Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18.5 and 34.9.You are taking medication to help you lose weight.You must be between 22 and 36 years old.You are using strong pain medications or illegal drugs.You have at least one risk factor for metabolic syndrome, like having a large waist, low HDL (good cholesterol), or high triglyceride levels.You are taking medication for high cholesterol or high blood pressure.You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have gone through menopause.You have a long-term health condition.
