Study Summary

This trial will test if patient navigation, which involves helping patients connect to resources and follow-up care, can help increase enrollment in detox and substance abuse programs and prevent readmission to detox.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 who have successfully completed detox at a partner facility, are not in substance abuse treatment, and can consent to study procedures. It excludes those with severe physical or mental health issues that could delay alcohol treatment or individuals being discharged to prison.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The NCARE study is evaluating if patient navigation helps increase enrollment in substance abuse programs and reduces readmissions to detox. Participants will be randomly assigned motivational interviewing alone or combined with patient navigation.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since the interventions involve counseling techniques rather than medications, typical drug side effects aren't expected. However, discussing sensitive topics may cause emotional discomfort.
