Additionally, researchers will also measure self-esteem, coping skills and assertiveness by calculating mean scores on respective scales. Self-esteem index ranges from 1 (higher) to 4 (lower); a lower score exhibits better results, whereas for Coping and Assertiveness it's 0 (high) to 3 (poor), with smaller numbers indicating greater efficacy in managing difficult life circumstances or asserting one's self respectively."
