SHA Trial Summary

This trial tests if people can tell if a chiropractic adjustment was real or fake.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults aged 18-60 without a history of stroke, severe dizziness or vertigo, new headaches, recent whiplash injury, spinal fractures/dislocations, radiating disc problems, advanced arthritis in the spine, connective tissue disorders like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, bone diseases like osteoporosis that are not controlled by medication. Chiropractors and chiropractic students beyond their first year can't join. Pregnant individuals are also excluded.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is looking at how people perceive real versus fake (sham) chiropractic adjustments. These adjustments are quick movements applied to the spine with low force but high speed (HVLA). The goal is to see if participants can tell whether they received a real adjustment or a simulated one.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Chiropractic adjustments may sometimes cause temporary discomfort such as soreness or stiffness in the treated area. Rarely more serious side effects occur like increased pain or neurological symptoms.
