Study Summary

This trial tests an SGM-specific program to help sexual/gender minorities quit smoking. It checks how effective & acceptable it is.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for LGBTQ+ individuals who want to quit smoking, smoke at least 5 cigarettes daily, and have smoked over 100 in their lifetime. They must live in Texas, have a cell phone with unlimited texting, and test positive for nicotine use. Excluded are non-English speakers, those on cessation meds or prepaid phones, pregnant/breastfeeding persons, and people with certain medical conditions.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is evaluating SmokefreeSGM—a tailored text messaging program designed to help sexual and gender minority groups quit smoking—against the standard SmokefreeTXT program. Participants will receive supportive texts aimed at aiding smoking cessation.See study design

Since this trial involves text-based interventions without medications or invasive procedures, there are no direct physical side effects expected from participation. However, participants may experience stress or anxiety related to quitting smoking.
