CrTMS Trial Summary

This trial will study whether combining rTMS with cognitive training can improve cognitive and functional outcomes in adults with Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults aged 18-65 with stable psychotic symptoms and a diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. It's not suitable for those actively using substances, on meds that affect cognition, currently experiencing severe psychosis, recently hospitalized for psychiatric reasons, or with a history of seizures.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests the combination of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and computerized cognitive training to see if they improve thinking and daily functioning in people with schizophrenia. Participants are randomly assigned to receive either real rTMS or a sham treatment over two weeks.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects from rTMS may include discomfort at the stimulation site, headache, lightheadedness, or seizures (though rare). The cognitive training is unlikely to have physical side effects but could cause mental fatigue.
