MAST Trial Summary

This trial is testing whether MRI, along with a targeted biopsy of any suspicious lesions, can help detect which patients are more likely to need treatment sooner.

Who is the study for?
Men aged 35-85 with confirmed prostate cancer within the last 18 months, a PSA level ≤20 ng/ml, and who have had at least an 8-core biopsy. Participants must be able to undergo MRI scans with contrast and agree to regular MRI-guided biopsies and quality of life questionnaires. Exclusions include high-grade cancers, prior significant prostate treatments or surgeries (except certain benign procedures), renal insufficiency preventing MRI use, bilateral hip replacements, or other active malignancies.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The trial is testing whether using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) along with targeted biopsies can help identify patients who need earlier treatment for prostate cancer. It involves serial multiparametric MRIs and guided biopsies based on suspicious findings in the images.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects from this trial may include discomfort or pain during the MRI-guided biopsy procedure, risks associated with contrast agents used in MRIs such as allergic reactions or kidney problems in susceptible individuals.
