- You are willing to attend classes with other people.You have a very serious illness with a short life expectancy.You have lost more than 5% of your body weight in the last 6 months, excluding weight loss after giving birth.
- Group 1: Receive lifestyle modification alone (DPP)
- Group 2: Receive lifestyle modification with metformin therapy
- No Placebo-Only Group - All patients enrolled in this study will receive some form of active treatment.
- Screening: It may take up to 3 Weeks to process to see if you qualify in this trial.
- Treatment: The duration you will receive the treatment varies.
- Follow Ups: You may be asked to continue sharing information regarding the trial for 6 Months after you stop receiving the treatment.

"This clinical trial seeks to recruit 100 participants who are aged between 19 and 59, have a BMI of at least 35, receive their primary care from one of the collaborating medical centres and have an HbA1c reading ranging between 6.0% - 6.4%. Moreover, they must commit to attending group classes, working with peer advisors both in-person and over the phone as well as self-weighing daily using telemonitoring bodyweight technology, while having access to either telephone or cellular phone services. Additionally, it is imperative that these patients have had eGFR readings above 60 within six months prior to enrolling"
