This trial will help researchers understand how to better protect construction workers and their families from exposure to lead and other metals.
Who is the study for?
The RECLEAN Pilot Study is for construction workers who are at high risk for metal exposure, live with a child over 1 year old in the Greater Boston area, and speak English or Spanish. Both the worker and their household members can join if they're interested.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
This study tests whether educational sessions, using D-LEAD cleaning products, home assessments, and training to prevent taking contaminants from work to home can lower lead levels in homes and residents' blood.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial focuses on education and environmental interventions rather than medical treatments, traditional side effects are not expected. However, participants may experience inconvenience or privacy concerns due to home inspections.

Group I: Intermediate intervention groupExperimental Treatment3 Interventions
Participants in the intermediate intervention group will have a 1-hour in-home assessment plan and educational session and refer worker to a 1-hr worker take home prevention educational session.
Group II: Advanced intervention groupExperimental Treatment4 Interventions
Participants in the advanced intervention group will have a 1-hour in-home assessment plan and educational session, refer worker to a 1-hr worker take home prevention educational session, and provision of D-LEAD all-purpose cleaner and laundry detergent.
Group III: Basic intervention groupActive Control2 Interventions
Participants in the basic intervention group will have a 1-hour in-home assessment plan and family educational session.

Eligibility Criteria:
This trial includes the following eligibility criteria:- I am 18 years old or older.I am at least 1 year old.You live in the Boston area.You live in the Greater Boston area with the person who will be participating in this study.I speak English or Spanish.First, we will ask construction workers to participate in the study. Then, we will also ask their family members living with them to participate.I live with a child who is 1 year old or older and interested in participating in the study.I work full-time in construction and am often exposed to metals.

This trial has the following groups:- Group 1: Basic intervention group
- Group 2: Intermediate intervention group
- Group 3: Advanced intervention group

This trial has 1 awards, including:- No Placebo-Only Group - All patients enrolled in this study will receive some form of active treatment.
