Study Summary

This trial will study if there is a difference in how two types of exercise affect older Veterans' bones.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for healthy older veterans aged 60 and above who are used to doing an hour of vigorous cycling and treadmill exercise. It's not for those with uncontrolled high blood pressure, recent fractures, heart disease without clearance, poor kidney or liver function, thyroid issues, low/high calcium levels, current COVID-19 symptoms or diagnosis without recovery confirmation.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study aims to see if different types of exercise (brisk walking on a treadmill vs. vigorous stationary cycling) affect bone health markers differently after one session. Participants will have their blood tested before, during, and after these exercises to compare the impact on bone-related biomarkers.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves common forms of physical activity like walking and cycling at intensities that participants are already accustomed to, side effects might include typical exercise-related discomforts such as muscle soreness or fatigue.
