Study Summary

This trial is comparing three different treatments for apophysitis of the lower extremity in adolescents to see which is most effective in reducing pain and allowing return to sports and activities.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adolescents with Osgood-Schlatter syndrome, Sinding-Larsen and Johansson syndrome, or Sever's disease who haven't had previous treatments for these conditions. Participants need regular internet access but can't join if they've had a past injury to the affected joint that required taking more than a week off sports.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study compares three treatments for lower extremity apophysitis: active elongation exercises, static stretching exercises, and symptomatic treatment using ice, acetaminophen or NSAIDs with activity modification. The goal is to see which method best reduces pain and speeds up return to activities.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since the interventions involve physical exercises and common over-the-counter medications like acetaminophen or NSAIDs, potential side effects may include muscle soreness from exercise and typical medication-related issues such as stomach upset.
