Study Summary

This trial is testing a new way to give radiation therapy for cancer that starts in the spine. The new way may cause less damage to the bones in the spine.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for pediatric patients with a confirmed diagnosis of cancer in the central nervous system who need craniospinal irradiation. Participants must be able to undergo MRI scans and not have any major illnesses that could affect study participation. Pregnant or potentially pregnant females are excluded.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The trial is testing intensity-modulated proton therapy, an advanced type of radiation treatment aimed at killing cancer cells while sparing the bones of the vertebral column from radiation exposure, potentially reducing side effects.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects may include skin reactions, fatigue, hair loss at treated sites, nausea, and other symptoms related to reduced radiation exposure to healthy spinal tissue.

Frequently Asked Questions

These questions and answers are submitted by anonymous patients, and have not been verified by our internal team.

Am I able to participate in this exploration?

"For this research project, a cohort of 10 children between the ages 3 and 18 with central nervous system neoplasms is sought. Additionally, they must have received radiotherapy treatment for their malignancy, as well as given written consent in order to be considered eligible participants."

Answered by AI

Are persons of a younger age group eligible to participate in this trial?

"According to the criteria for participation, minors aged 3 to 18 are qualified applicants. Of those eligible under 18 years old, 77 people can join this trial; conversely, older adults over 65 have 50 opportunities."

Answered by AI

Is this research study currently enrolling participants?

"Clinicaltrials.gov data points to the conclusion that this medical trial is not actively recruiting patients anymore; the study was initially posted on December 16th 2019 and last modified on February 28th 2022. Fortunately, 116 other clinical trials are currently open for patient recruitment at present."
