Kypho-IORT Trial Summary
This trial is studying a novel approach to treating spinal cord metastases that involves a minimally invasive procedure called kyphoplasty, combined with a single dose of intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT). The primary objective is to evaluate the response rate of pain control, while secondary objectives are to determine feasibility and tolerability/side effects of the IORT, as well as to identify clinical factors that are prognostic of vertebral compression fracture.

Dr. Ghaly is excellent! One of the best doctors I've ever met. He took time to explain everything in detail. I had extreme anxiety about the procedure, but felt comfortable with Dr. Ghaly- he has that rare combination of technical brilliance plus warm personality- kind & caring, w a good sense of humor. He held my hand during part of the procedure when I was freaking out & focused on me to assess for distress, then took appropriate action to fix- I would say he has a very high level of empathy.
