Study Summary

This trial will explore the effects of music listening to reduce anxiety, pain and dissatisfaction during dental procedures.

Who is the study for?
Adults over 18 who need a gum graft surgery lasting no more than 1.5 hours can join this trial. They must understand French or English, be able to follow instructions, and consent to receive sound therapy or control conditions. Those with auditory disorders, allergies to NSAIDS, mental health or neurological issues are excluded.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing if personalized music can help reduce anxiety, pain, and dissatisfaction during gum graft surgery compared to listening to an audiobook or receiving standard care without any audio intervention. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of these three groups in a single-blind design.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since the interventions involve listening to music or an audiobook, there are no direct medical side effects expected from the treatment itself; however individual reactions such as discomfort with headphones could occur.
