Group I: Emotional Awareness and Expression TherapyExperimental Treatment1 Intervention
Seeks to reduce physical (e.g., pain) and emotional (e.g., depression, anxiety) symptoms by helping individuals become aware of their emotions, express them, and resolve emotional conflicts. It will use techniques such as writing about stress, role playing how to handle difficult relationships, recognizing and expressing anger and other feelings, and being more open with others.
Group II: Cognitive Behavior TherapyActive Control1 Intervention
Seeks to help individuals function better and improve symptoms by teaching various cognitive and behavioral skills to manage symptoms. It will use techniques such as relaxation training, engaging in pleasant activities, pacing yourself, and changing unhelpful ways of thinking.

Eligibility Criteria:
This trial includes the following eligibility criteria:- Veterans between the ages of 60 and 95 who have experienced musculoskeletal pain for at least 3 months. The pain should be in areas such as the back, neck, legs, pelvis, jaw, or head.You will be excluded from the study if you have certain conditions or situations that can affect your ability to participate or that may interfere with the study results. These include having specific types of pain (e.g., osteoarthritis, autoimmune disease, cancer pain, etc.), uncontrolled severe psychiatric disorders, substantial cognitive impairment, active alcohol or substance use disorder, ongoing pain-related litigation, recent or current pain-related psychotherapy, difficulty with English fluency, or planning to move away in the next 6 months.

- Group 2: Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy
