Summary

This trial aims to understand how being inactive for varying periods of time affects how the body processes fats after eating. They will measure blood fat levels and fat burning in healthy participants after they go through different periods

Who is the study for?
This trial is for healthy individuals interested in how different lengths of physical inactivity (4, 8, or 12 hours) affect their body's ability to manage fats after eating. Participants will need to be able to perform moderate cycling and follow a high-fat diet for the test.
What is being tested?
The study tests how periods of not moving much impact fat levels in blood and fat burning after exercise. Everyone does three trials with varying inactive times but also includes regular walking and cycling before a high-fat meal.
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves common activities like sitting still, walking, cycling, and eating fatty foods, no significant side effects are expected beyond what might normally occur with these activities.

3Treatment groups
Experimental Treatment
Group I: 8-hr TrialExperimental Treatment1 Intervention
Participants will go through a day of routine step counts and sleep hour monitor, 2 days of being physical active by taking ambulatory steps, 8 hours of physical inactivity intervention, and moderate intensity cycling, and 1 high fat tolerance test.
Group II: 4-hr trialExperimental Treatment1 Intervention
Participants will go through a day of routine step counts and sleep hour monitor, 2 days of being physical active by taking ambulatory steps, 4 hours of physical inactivity intervention, and moderate intensity cycling, and 1 high fat tolerance test.
Group III: 12-hr TrialExperimental Treatment1 Intervention
Participants will go through a day of routine step counts and sleep hour monitor, 2 days of being physical active by taking ambulatory steps, 12 hours of physical inactivity intervention, and moderate intensity cycling, and 1 high fat tolerance test.
