Study Summary

This trial looks at how insulin resistance (IR) affects cognition and brain blood vessels in adolescents, to see if it has a negative effect.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for typically developing adolescents aged 12-18 without diabetes, neurological or developmental disorders, significant head injuries, or severe medical conditions. Participants must not be pregnant, currently smoking heavily, on insulin treatment, or have a weight below 94.5 lbs.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study investigates how brain blood vessel function and cognitive abilities are affected by varying levels of insulin resistance in adolescents using tests like cognitive assessments and monitoring changes during exercise on a cycle ergometer.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since the interventions include non-invasive procedures such as cognitive tests and physical activity on an exercise bike, side effects may be minimal but could include discomfort from wearing testing equipment or fatigue from the exercises.
