Patient Q&A Section

Is almond group safe for people?

"The safety of this almond/milk (sugartt) product is not in question. Recent findings are reassuring and support an almond/milk product in a healthy diet as appropriate, safe, and rewarding." - Anonymous Online Contributor

Can overweight be cured?

"In our study, despite diet recommendations to the contrary, the relapse to normal BMI and the reversal of excess body fat (or fat sparing method) was found to occur. Obesity is not a static state and BMI of the overweight may be affected by lifestyle, socioeconomics and mental factors. For these reasons, further studies on a larger cohort are required to clarify the real causes of the relapsing and reverting of weight." - Anonymous Online Contributor

What are the signs of overweight?

"Symptoms of obesity include feeling full quickly; getting very tired; having a heart failure; having a heart attack; getting a heart failure if overweight; and being out of breath." - Anonymous Online Contributor

What causes overweight?

"About half of the British general population is categorized as overweight, which is less common than is the case in the US and Europe. More than 10% of this population would benefit from a diet that helps them to meet the recommended levels of physical activity." - Anonymous Online Contributor

How many people get overweight a year in the United States?

"There are more than two million men and women currently designated as overweight that will be overweight and obese at some point in time. The lifetime incidence of overweight and obesity in the United States is expected to be a function of age, sex and race, although race-specific estimates are not available." - Anonymous Online Contributor

What is overweight?

"Overweight is a disorder characterized by excessive fat accumulation in adipose tissues and overabdomen and can be detected through BMI. The frequency of obese population in Egypt is increasing progressively and will be of great concern in the near future. The main factors that affect the weight of a population are the environment, heredity and diet." - Anonymous Online Contributor

Unverified Answer

What are common treatments for overweight?

"Many factors may explain variations in weight management between people. Obesity treatment often involves a combination of weight loss and diet modification, and may be implemented at any stage of obesity." - Anonymous Online Contributor

Unverified Answer

What is the average age someone gets overweight?

"Obesity is becoming more frequent at an earlier age, with the highest rates of obesity reported in children under the age of 10. Although there are no statistically significant differences in overweight rates between males and females, males in the 5-19 age group, women ≥ 20 and 20-24 age groups are the higher rate groups. These data suggest that early obesity prevention should begin in childhood and continue throughout adolescence." - Anonymous Online Contributor

Unverified Answer

What are the common side effects of almond group?

"The almond group had a positive effect on several facets of cognition. An improved memory pattern, less subjective sleepiness and better overall mood were seen. The patients found the group useful and reported that they were more motivated to take care of their memory and attention. A larger study was considered for further development." - Anonymous Online Contributor

Unverified Answer

Does almond group improve quality of life for those with overweight?

"Use of alphascent group intervention improved quality of life for overweight persons. Overweight individuals benefit by participating in a group, which provides a forum for peers with similar backgrounds and interests, to experience shared solutions and challenges to lifestyle change." - Anonymous Online Contributor

Unverified Answer

Does overweight run in families?

"Although there's a great deal of literature regarding the association between childhood obesity and adult obesity this was the first study to report this in a large study population. Recent findings confirms the association between parental overweight and the chance that family members are overweight. The magnitude of this relationship is surprising, as overweight children do not seem to be influencing their parents in any way at this age. Therefore, we suggest that parental overweight and obesity are likely the major determinants of the overall propensity to be overweight since childhood. Further research is needed to confirm the extent of intergenerational effect of overweight and obesity." - Anonymous Online Contributor

Unverified Answer

What is the primary cause of overweight?

"Given the magnitude and relevance of obesity, prevention should be the first priority to reduce its future consequences. The primary drivers should be addressed specifically at various level of population: population- and group-specific, individual- and group-specific, and environmental-level." - Anonymous Online Contributor
