Study Summary

This trial will study the effects of drinking beetroot juice on weightlifting and body-mass resisted exercises like resistance training. It will explore how different doses of beetroot juice can impact performance.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for recreationally active males who have been doing resistance exercise at least twice a week for the past two years. It's not suitable for women, smokers, those with heart or metabolic diseases, or anyone currently taking supplements like caffeine, creatine, or nitric oxide precursors.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests how different doses of beetroot juice (high, moderate, low nitrate levels) affect muscle performance during weightlifting compared to a placebo (nitrate-depleted juice). The goal is to find out if and what dose of beetroot juice can enhance resistance exercise outcomes.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Beetroot juice may cause changes in urine color and could lead to stomach discomfort in some individuals. High-nitrate doses might also affect blood pressure. Specific side effects will depend on individual reactions to the supplement.
