VIDEO-HF Trial Summary

This trial will help researchers understand if a video about end-of-life care can help people with advanced heart failure make decisions about their care.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for patients aged 65 or older with advanced heart failure, who've been hospitalized for it in the last six months, have a life expectancy of possibly less than one year as judged by their doctor, and experience significant activity limitations. Patients should not be new to the attending physician's care, candidates for transplants or mechanical circulatory support, nor have major psychiatric illnesses.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study aims to compare how well patients with advanced congestive heart failure make decisions about their care after having a verbal discussion versus watching a video decision aid. It looks at whether using videos can help facilitate advance care planning more effectively.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this intervention involves educational videos rather than medical treatments or drugs, there are no direct physical side effects expected from participating in this trial.
