Study Summary

This trial will investigate the effects of just 1 min of stair stepping on late-day food consumption to reduce postprandial blood glucose. Benefits may include providing simple & cheap exercise, and potential glycemic results to participants. Risks are comparable to everyday life.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 who are generally healthy and can safely climb stairs. They should not have cardiovascular risks as per the PAR-Q+ questionnaire, or any condition that prevents them from stair stepping comfortably.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests if a short bout of stair stepping can reduce blood sugar levels after eating late in the day. Participants will compare two days: one with sitting only and another adding stair stepping after consuming glucose.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Risks include those typical of everyday life such as potential falls during stair stepping. Finger sticks and blood draws may cause bruising or infection but carry no more risk than those done during routine physical exams.
