BLT2b Trial Summary

This trial will explore how two different treadmill training approaches influence walking speed, symmetry, and balance in people with chronic severe stroke-related walking impairment.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults aged 18-80 who have had a stroke and are now dealing with severe walking difficulties. They should be able to walk at least a little bit, even if it's very slow and they need some support like a cane. People with unstable heart conditions, language barriers preventing understanding of instructions, extreme muscle stiffness in the legs, untreated depression or other health issues affecting walking aren't eligible.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing two types of treadmill exercises to see which one helps improve walking speed, balance, and symmetry after having a severe stroke. Participants will either walk forward or backward on treadmills as part of their rehabilitation to find out which method might work best for recovery.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
While not explicitly listed in the provided information, potential side effects from participating in this type of physical therapy could include muscle soreness, fatigue, joint pain or discomfort due to exercise.
