Who is the study for?
This study is for English-speaking adults aged 18-65 with a physician's diagnosis of Fibromyalgia, but no other chronic pain conditions. Healthy volunteers without chronic pain can also participate. What is being tested?
The trial investigates how different types of touch similar to massage therapy affect pain perception in people with and without chronic pain. It also looks at psychological factors that might predict responses to touch in those suffering from chronic pain.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves non-invasive procedures like massage therapies and possibly MRI scans if part of the pilot study, side effects may be minimal but could include discomfort from touch or cold water immersion used during the tests.
