Study Summary

This trial is testing a device that can measure dietary intake and digestion without medical input. It looks at the effect of dietary fiber on the gut microbiome, and how those changes affect the atmosphere in the bathroom.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for healthy adults aged 21-65 without serious chronic diseases, willing to eat prebiotic bars daily and provide stool and blood samples. People with a BMI outside of 18-35, on restricted diets, or with certain allergies or chronic GI disorders cannot participate.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests an eNose device that measures dietary fiber intake by detecting compounds in bathroom air. Participants will use the device at home while tracking their food intake and providing bodily samples over three weeks.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves a nonmedical eNose device for monitoring purposes rather than medication or invasive procedures, it does not have associated side effects like drug trials do.

Study Objectives

Outcome measures can provide a clearer picture of what you can expect from a treatment.
Primary outcome measures
Accuracy of this device to detect increased intake of fiber
Secondary outcome measures
Ability of eNose to detect increased production of SCFA- positive correlation between enose signals and each of three SCFA and total SCFA levels in stool
Impact of fiber bar in microbiota composition
Tolerability of prebiotic bar
