Summary

This trial aims to adapt the BeatIt program for autistic adults, including those with intellectual disabilities. The program helps improve mood by getting participants involved in meaningful activities. Researchers will see if this adapted program can help reduce depression in this group. The Beatalk technique, which uses beatbox sounds and rhythms to improve speech, has been tested as a new method for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Change in behavioral activation on Behavioral Activation for Depression Scale (BADS)
Change in distress on Anxiety Depression and Mood Scale (ADAMS)

Participants, along with a support person, will complete 12 weekly sessions of the BeatIt-ASD intervention. The support person will complete an initial session before commencement of the 12 weekly sessions.
